Do you think people like Ayatollah Khamenei were genuinely religious and genuinely believed in a literal god and all that?

I assume he did, but as an atheist I always kind of assume that seemingly smart and powerful people must probably often secretly not actually believe in the literal supernatural aspects of the religion and the whole afterlife and "this supernatural entity has these rules they want you to live your life by" thing

Of course I know there are some intelligent people who are genuinely religious, but for certain people it is always just a bit jarring to consider they might really believe it

I am a teenager and cannot fathom that other people have worldviews with wholly different foundations than my own. >>12820887

I don't think that's what happening
it appears that the people who rule the world act in such a way that they don't care if there's a God or not, so it's reasonable to entertain the possibility that it's all a LARP
If you think Christians and Atheists are always at each other throats, they really can't hold a candle to Christians and other Christians. They can never get along, and the bible makes so many mentions to people who use the word of God to appear virtue signal while they sin in private

OP here. I would not make that LARP claim, however I am making the claim that that LARP claim and the distribution of it is a hypothesis which I think cannot be ruled out.

Also, I think the Bible is interesting because, in principle, one could write a book like that to attempt to promulgate a particular worldview and a particular interpretation of what is and isn't objectively moral without needing to invoke a single supernatural thing. This fact probably kind of lets people sometimes, perhaps unknowingly, equivocate between textual analysis and merit of ideas and then the extra detail that it was alleged to have inscribed the words of the creator of reality picking some mammals to share it all with

I predict that if any humans still exist in the year 2600, fewer than 10% of humans will hold any literal religious beliefs, beyond the sorts of non-supernatural abstract beliefs which many non-religion ideas contain

I also predict at least 95% of humans will be vegans with respect to food sourcing even if everyone still consumes meat, just as 95% of pedophiles will be "child sexual abuse material vegans" even if they still consume pornography showing children

That last paragraph has nothing to do with the other paragraphs. Those are just my big predictions.
