any system built with only the average in mind is suited for nobody, the cases on the margins need to be accounted for for it to be effective. this is true for literally everything, there's this great example from like the US air force or something trying to design a comfortable pilot's chair and they measured all their guys and built to the specs of the average measurements of all their guys and the chairs were terrible across the board for everyone - only when they redesigned them with their very tallest AND their very shortest guys in mind did people actually find them comfortable. it's a really broadly applicable principle, if everyone isn't accounted for no one is. glegle
