I personally think it's a silly thing to argue what is off-model because not even the original artist of a character has a set definition of what is "on-model". It gradually evolves (or devolves according to personal taste) as time goes on, and even the art direction within the same work isn't 100% consistent. There's no set "ideal" for on-model in my opinion.
